Commio SMS and RCS Setup in RingQ
Commio (formerly thinQ) offers business SMS and RCS in the USA and Canada. RCS lets agents send rich messages with buttons and cards to phones that support it. Other phones get a normal SMS.
Before you start
- A Commio account with a messaging-enabled number.
- Your Commio Username and API token.
- Optional but recommended: a Webhook secret, so RingQ can check that incoming messages really come from Commio.
- For RCS: an RCS agent approved by Commio. Until it is approved, the number sends normal SMS.
Add the number in RingQ
- Sign in to the RingQ web app as an admin.
- Go to Global Settings › Chat Settings.
- In the provider list, choose SMS numbers (all providers) and click Add SMS number.
- Pick Commio (SMS + RCS).
- Enter a short Name and the Phone number with country code.
- Enter your Username, API token and, if you use one, the Webhook secret.
- Click Save, then copy the Webhook URL for your provider.
Connect Commio to RingQ
- In the Commio portal, open Messaging › Webhooks.
- Paste the RingQ webhook address for this number and save.
- If you set a webhook secret in RingQ, use the same secret in Commio.
Test it
- Click Send test message on the number and send a text to your own mobile. It should arrive within seconds.
- Reply from your mobile. A new chat opens in RingQ Chat.
- To route the number to a queue, pick it under SMS in Call Flow or in the queue settings.
