Australian Phone SMS Setup in RingQ

Australian Phone provides SMS on Australian mobile numbers. RingQ connects to the same SMS service Australian Phone offers for 3CX. Australian Phone issues your API key after they receive your RingQ webhook address, so follow the steps in this order.

Before you start

  • An Australian Phone account.
  • An Australian mobile number (DID) that starts with 614. Ordinary landline numbers cannot send SMS.

Step 1: Add the number in RingQ

  1. Sign in to the RingQ web app as an admin.
  2. Go to Global Settings › Chat Settings.
  3. In the provider list, choose SMS numbers (all providers) and click Add SMS number.
  4. Pick Australian Phone.
  5. Enter a short Name and the Phone number, for example +61412345678.
  6. Leave API key empty for now and click Save.
  7. Copy the Webhook URL for your provider.

Step 2: Ask Australian Phone to turn on SMS

  1. Email support@australianphone.com.au.
  2. Ask for SMS activation on your number and include the RingQ webhook address.
  3. Australian Phone replies with your API key.

Step 3: Add the API key

  1. Open the number in RingQ and click Edit.
  2. Paste the API key and click Save changes.

Waiting for your key? Switch on the Simulator for the number in the meantime, so your team can already practise with Chat.

Test it

  1. Click Send test message on the number and send a text to your own mobile. It should arrive within seconds.
  2. Reply from your mobile. A new chat opens in RingQ Chat.
  3. To route the number to a queue, pick it under SMS in Call Flow or in the queue settings.
